What Meat Comes Under Poultry?

Poultry includes meat that is taken from birds, typically chickens, turkeys, ducks, and geese. When buying poultry cuts, you will most likely find whole roasting joints, wings, thighs, or breasts.

What Temperature Should Poultry be Cooked to?

To ensure your meat is cooked thoroughly, your chicken or turkey should reach an internal temperature of 75°C before being served. Investing in a meat thermometer takes out the guesswork, resulting in perfectly-done chicken and turkey every time. The chicken or turkey juices should also run clear before serving.

Does Chicken Need a Marinade?

Chicken, although delicious with simple seasonings, makes a great base for sauces and marinades. If you’re looking to impress friends, try our awesome Chicken Wings With Gochujang And Buffalo Sauce for your next get-together. How Should You Cook Whole Poultry Joints?

How you cook your joint, and how long the cooking time is will vary depending on your choice of bird, and the size. If you are cooking one of our tasty British Whole Free Range Chicken Joints, first, brine or season with salt, pepper, and your favourite herbs and spices. Cook your joint for 20 minutes at 200 degrees Celsius followed by an extra 20 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius (per 500g.) For a smaller 1kg chicken, cook for 20 mins at 200 degrees Celsius then cook for a further 40 mins at 180 degrees Celsius. If you want something a little more festive, our Halal Turkey Crowns are a great option. Season your turkey joint with a simple rub of herbs and spices, and rest until it reaches room temperature. If your Turkey crown is under 4kg, then you should cook for 20 minutes per Kilogram plus an extra 70 minutes. If over 4kg, cook for 20 minutes per Kilogram and add an extra 90 minutes. The oven temperature should be 190C/170C fan/gas 5.
